About Us
Krishna Sur's creations is a small boutique in the city of Durgapur, West Bengal, India. It is owned and run by a self-made entrepreneur, Krishna Sur, and her team of hard working girls. She has a workshop where she has a painting and printing unit. This is also where all the designing, tracing and outsourcing for other hand crafted work such as kantha, arri, zardozi, parsi, madhubani and applique takes place. On the computer, managing the finances and IT stuff is her "scholarly" husband. When they are not dealing with the "Business", Mr and Mrs Sur are known to love gardening, cooking, travelling and Netflix (in exactly that particular order).

Art never goes out of style and neither does uniqueness. That has been my moto for the last 42 years of working as a textile designer. I started a small business in a dim lit studio in our garage many years ago because I loved creating and designing. Through the years that business has grown (mostly through word of mouth) into an enterprise that not only promotes local artisans but also trains and empowers women from neighboring villages. We do not make things in bulk, because who wants to add to the "use and throw" textile industry.
